Baby Weaning

First meals — baby explores, you relax

Weaning is when your baby first meets flavour, texture and the whole business of holding a spoon. There will be mess, and there will be meals where nothing gets eaten at all — that's completely normal. HOP & JOY chooses safe, spill-proof, quick-to-wash gear so there's less clearing up and more of the good part.

What's in this category

  • Silicone feeding sets: bowls, plates and divided trays with suction bases that grip the table, so pulling and pushing doesn't end in a spill.
  • Spoons & forks: soft silicone tips that are kind to teething gums, with short handles sized for small hands learning to self-feed.
  • High chairs: full-height chairs with safety harnesses, foldable models and clip-on seats for smaller homes, all with removable trays.
  • Weaning tables: low table-and-chair sets sized for your child, encouraging good posture and a consistent place to eat.
  • Bibs: silicone bibs with catch pockets and waterproof long-sleeve bibs — wipe clean, no washing after every meal.
  • Cups: spouted, straw and 360° cups for each stage of learning to drink.
  • Prep & storage: divided freezer trays, food containers and anti-choking feeders.

How to choose

By your weaning approach. Baby-led weaning calls for divided trays and a bib with a good catch pocket. Traditional spoon-feeding leans towards deeper bowls and soft-tipped spoons.

By stage. A baby starting at around six months needs a chair with a reclining back and a full harness. Once sitting is confident, a low weaning table lets them climb in and out on their own.

Choose food-grade silicone. BPA-free silicone handles high heat, goes in the dishwasher and steriliser, and won't shatter when it hits the floor — which it will.

Think about washing up. Fewer grooves, simple to take apart. You'll be cleaning these three times a day, so small conveniences add up fast.

Mealtime safety notes

  • Always seat your baby upright to eat — never lying down, on the move, or while playing.
  • Use the harness every time, even for a short sitting.
  • Stay with your baby throughout the meal.
  • Inspect silicone items regularly and replace anything torn or peeling.
  • Wash thoroughly and dry completely before storing, especially around suction bases.

Why HOP & JOY

Everything that touches your baby's food is checked for materials and safety before it goes on our shelves. Because your child's meals shouldn't be one more thing to second-guess.
